Sumatra is part of the "Sundaland hotspot", with the highest biodiversity. There are 582 bird species inhabit in island and more than 25 of which are endemic (including subspecies), such as Sumatran Laughingthrush, Sumatran Woodpecker, Sumatran Drongo, Sumatran Trogon, and much more. Birding site we had a representative form of lowlands to the highlands habitat in Sumatra, and our site easily accessible and has a very beautiful view. Besides a birds, can be found primate species such as, Black Gibbons, Lar Gibbons or Thomas’s Leaf Monkey endemic of Northern Sumatra.
The Beutung Forest Reserve is part of the Leuser Ecosystem Conservation Area, with an area of proximately 127,000 ha which has abundant diversity. The Betung Forest Reserve is home to approximately 132 mammals, including the Sumatran Tiger, Clouded Leopard, Gibbon’s, Thomas’s Leaf Monkey, Sumatran Elephant and others. The Beutung Ecosystem also has fewer than 382 bird species where 23 species are endemic such as, Aceh Bulbul, Sumatran Laughingthrush, Sumatran Woodpecker, Sumatran Hill Partridge, Salvadori’s Pheasant, Rajah Scops Owl and many more. In addition there are also more than 80 types of reptiles and amphibian.

Apart from that, you can use the Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport access (IATA: BTJ, ICAO: WITT), but to get to the birding site, it takes around 6.5 hours by car.
Kedah is located in the outskirts
of pristine rainforest near a creek at an altitude of approximately 1.400m, and
15 km west of Blangkejeren in the district of Gayo Lues. Kedah is perfect for
adventurous because we will be birding in the area exciting and natural
tropical rainforest.. The birding along this area is excellent and mixed
foraging flocks for endemics including Blue-masked leafbird and Sumatran
Drongo. Bronze-tailed Peacock-Pheasant is frequently heard and seen. The Roll’s
Partridge and Red-billed Hill-partridge also regularly heard. Sumatran
Woodpecker may be encountered along this area.

Ketambe is a village located in Southeast Aceh district, which is one of the entrances to the Gunung Leuser National Park. In the Ketambe forest we can see orangutans, tigers, gibbons, birds and other endemic animals of Sumatra. This forest has amazing natural beauty and is an ecotourism area that is often visited by tourists.

Simeulue is one of the districts in Aceh Province, Indonesia, covering an area of 18.382 km, with a population of 92,865 people. In Simeulue there is an Important Birds Area (IBA) covering an area of 180 ha which was designated in 2001 by Birdlife International. One of the trigger species is the Simeulue Scops-Owl and the Silvery Wood-Pigeon. Other endemic species on this island are the Simeulue Parrot, White-bellied Woodpecker and Simeulue Serpent Eagle.
